Determination of pitot tube constants – method

Calibrated instruments

The laboratory performs the determination of correction coefficient (K factor) or shape coefficient (B factor) for pitot-static tubes (Prandtl tubes) and other pitot tubes used for flow velocity measurement, including those used in aspirating zero probes of gravimetric dust anemometers.

Calibration method

The determination of the correction coefficient is performed based on procedure P/03 “Procedure for calibrating constant characteristics of pitot tubes”, which has been accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation.

The values of the constants K1, K2 and B of the pitot tubes are determined based on relationships describing the gas flow velocity in the channel determined using the pitot tube:
